A report published by news portal thestreetjournal.com, has put the total monthly remuneration package for each of 109 serving senators of the Federal House of Assembly at N29, 479, 749. The jumbo pay package which if calculated per annum is six times bigger than what is earned by President Barack Obama of the United States, also include provisions for a N1, 242,122.70 monthly newspaper allowance and another N621, 061.37 wardrobe monthly allowance for each of the lawmakers. Below is a breakdown of the total monthly earnings each senator in Nigeria as reported by the news portal.
Basic Salary (BS) = N2,484,245.50
Hardship Allowance: 50% of Basic Salary = N1,242,122.75
Constituency allowance: 200% of BS = N4,968,509.00
Furniture Allowance: 300% of BS = N7,452,736.50
Newspaper allowance: 50% = N1,242,122.70
Wardrobe allowance: 25% = N621,061.37
Recess Allowance: 10% = N248,424.55
Accommodation: 200% = N4,968,509.00
Utilities: 30% = N828,081.83
Domestic Staff: 35% = N863,184.12
Entertainment: 30% = N828,081.83
Personal Assistance: 25% = N621,061.37
Vehicle Maintenance Allowance: 75% = N1,863,184.12

Money Is The Root Of Evil

One Mr Onyekachi Ekwelum, who allegedly sold his six-month-old son to raise funds to process his travel documents, would be appearing before a magistrate in court to defend his action.

Mr Ekwelum allegedly hatched and executed the act without the consent of the wife, but the lid was blown off by his 20-year-old spouse Ozioma when she could not find their son and reported the matter to the police. Her husband had wanted to travel to Greece.


The Abia State commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Abubakar Tilli, who disclosed this to newsmen in his office on Monday said the police mounted a man hunt that led to the rescue of the child and the arrest of the suspects.

CP Tilli warned criminals to stay off the state as there would be no hiding place for them and said the suspects have been charged to court.

T he Commissioner who expresses concern over spate of child trafficking said that on March 4 this year Mr Chidiebere Samuel of Ovungwu in IsialaNgwa south Local government area that his wife Odinaka Samuel connived with a nurse Monica Benjamin who delivered her baby girl and sold the child at N150, 000.

Describing such acts as inhuman, he said the suspects in the criminal transaction have been apprehended and charged to an Umuahia Magistrate court.

In a similar incident in Amoji Isiala Ngwa north local government the commissioner said that a man Mr Oluchukwu Ogidi reported that his wife Kelechi on March 16 connived with one Dr Williams Oruwa who delivered her baby and sold the newborn baby boy for N350.He also said the suspects have been arrested and charged to court even as he revealed that in the course of investigation three pregnant women allegedly harboured by the suspect possibly to have their babies sold after delivery were discovered.

In the world today, we see so many young people still single and we start to wonder if and when they will get married. In our society marriage is termed as the altimate thing for a young woman, but we fail to come to terms with a fact that not every one is meant to marry. This is a hard fact that many people fail to admit. Some people are not tolerant and believe in having their own space so marriage to them is a NO NO....Some want it so bad that they end up marrying for wrong reasons, and so on.For some others they just go into for the sake of their family, to avoid them stressing them but one thing i ask my self still is, ARE WE ALL MEANT TO MARRY....for some others these are a list of what bothers them when the issue of relationship and marriage comes up, relationships, when do you let go, how do u know the right one, how can you be sure,what is the right age,does age difference really matter, will he/she be accepted by my family and friends,religious background and finally the issue of money...these are a few of the things many people battle with. So at the end of the day i ask myself and you all out there, what can one do, because this is one thing that i know has been on my mind for a while and will love to hear what you all have to say also......the question now is.....DOES IT TAKE A GENIUS TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE??????

why is it that our society is always eager to say the worst of women when they are guilty of having extra marital affairs but when a man does the same, people just turn their heads and say he is just a man. I am not excusing the fact that it is morally wrong or that they are justified for such acts but lets analize it properly...why and what are the reasons why they are going outside or seeking attention outside..Is it that their husbands are neglecting them or are these the signs of end times?....I had a chat with a friend of mine on this issue and she had a lot to say concerning this topic. Lets start from the very beginning of mankind, a woman was created from the rib of a man, close to the heart.It simply means that a woman is a softer man, that craves a lot of attention and care. There are little things men take for granted that mean a lot to that woman we call our wives or partners. They like us(men) to take note of very little things about them of which while we were dating we always noticed, but give a man 1year after marriage, we tend to take these things for granted. There was a day my girlfriend went and made her hair and i came in tired and weak and i didnt take note of it, she made a big deal of it and i had to beg her for a whole week to make up for it.As a man ask yourself one thing, when was the last time you bought her her favourite snack, or that little thing she loves, when was the last time u guys had dinner outside the house, when was the last time you guys went out and had fun, when was the last time you paid her a compliment on how sexy she looks or something close to that...the list can go on and on...all they are trying to say is we should make an effort to do some of those things we used to do towards them while we were dating...We all know the economy leaves us drained after a hard days work but lets take some time out for our women. Lets try as men to rekindle that old flame we shared when we were still dating..And women, this is not an excuse for lowering yourself and please talk about it when your man lacks or there is something missing or you want some more attention from the menfolk. Rape from the dictionary means: forcing someone to have sex when they are unwilling, using violence or threatening beheviour...there are times when i am in the mood for sex and my girfriend is not in the mood but she allows me to have my way, i find out its not the same as when it is mutual....then think about having your way with someone that doesnt want you to touch her or want it from you...So many people get raped daily but nothing is done to stop it or most times the victims keep it to themselves for fear or are too ashamed to let the world know about it because of the shameful stigma attached to rape victims. what is the Government doing to assist these victims mentally or otherwise, when will we stop this barbaric act. We hear stories everyday about kids raped by their parents, family or by hoodlums and all the Government does is to put them behind bars. What have they done to help these victims, most of them are mentally distabilized and this affects them later in life. The essence of this publication is to rally amongst ourselves to do something about this issue. We cant keep reading stories and just sigh about it, we have to join hands and do something to stop this act.... personally i did try to stop the act and below is a picture of myself haven stopped some boys from rapping a girl under the influence of alcohol

SEGREGATION

When i hear this word (segregation), i remember the sayings of Marthin Luther King " i believe that one day blacks and white will stand together as brothers" if a BLACK man can have such a dream, i wonder why we shoud segregate ourselves not cos of colour but because we are from different tribes in th same country. This story is a true story of a young man who found love in the northern part of Nigeria but can not marry the girl he loves because he is from Edo state to be precise.
Ehi is a young man, a grad of Computer science that fell inlove with a girl from Igala, funny enough, he is a muslim and he would have understood if Aisha's father objected based on the fact that they had different religions. Unknown to both lovers, aisha's father has a dislike for people from Edo state based on some story in the past, but as we speak Ehi is suffering because one Edo person did something in the past and he is now been victimized because he is from that state. what i am trying to bring out is simply thus, must this innocent young man suffer for what another person did, does it mean because we are from different ethnic background we cant love freely...We always preach about the unity of the nation but still we have resevation on a sin someone else commited...whta do you think Ehi should do because as i write this, he is disraught and angry...and Aisha has no say in it because she is a girl. Do we have to give up on love based on ethnicity or should we fight for what we believe in...Ehi and Aisha need your comments and advice on what step to take for this is devastating to them.
As far as am concerned, this is an injustice to this poor lovers cos Ehi has done nothing wrong but love who he feels makes him happy butis now punished for what he doesnt know of or better still who he doesnt know...

  sex is a topic that should be taken seriously because it is the number one and most important spice in any relationship be it marriage or dating...we find that today in most marriages,sex is now a routine, some couples even have a calender date for having sex...is that not madness, i dont even want to call it sex because it makes it sound casual..it should be called love making..its supposed to be that special thing shared btw two people, a sort of deep communication btw two souls and their body interpreting how and what they both feel not the i have to do it because its my obligation in bed or to your partner... once that is the motive behind it then trust me your relationship is on verge of a collapse...this is how it should be....sex btw a couple should be an indescribable experience, a fantastic adventure, a rich fulfillment that you both desire to share freely, generously and and totally.... a sexual experience with an over whelming spirit of sensitivity....
